Frequently Asked Questions:
Are all items Handmade and Made to Order?
Yes! Everything in our shop is skillfully handcrafted on a per order basis. As soon as your order is placed, your item/s will be put into our production queue and handcrafted to order. We prefer to create made to order so that each order receives the utmost care and attention that it deserves, materials are fresh and new and each piece is made specifically for the one who will love and treasure it upon it's arrival.
How long does it take for each order to be handcrafted?
It truly depends on the item. Currently as we have experienced a higher then usual amount of orders, we are processing items on a 1-4 week turnaround.
Smaller items like hair pins, small hair combs, necklaces, back jewelry, earrings and simple veils will ship within 1-2 weeks of ordering. More detailed and delicate items such as juliet veils, lace trimmed veils, crowns, shoulder jewelry and intricate headpieces will be processed within a 3-4 week turnaround.
My wedding or special event is quickly approaching, do you accept rush orders?
Yes we do, most items can be rushed. Depending on how quickly the items is required and the intricacies of the design, a flat rate fee of $35 might be applied to the rush order. Please contact us prior to purchasing to ensure that we are able to accommodate your rush request. If a rush order is requested AFTER the item/s have been ordered, a $35 rush fee will be applied automatically. This is to be purchased within 24 hours of receiving or the order may be cancelled.
What Currency is your shop listed in?
All prices are listed in Canadian Dollars, however we have a currency converter at the top right hand corner for USD, GBP, Euro and AUS. If you don't see your currency, we find the best online currency converter is www.xe.com
Do you offer small changes to pre-existing designs?
Yes, we do! Most of our designs can be slightly altered in size and materials. A small alterations fee is charged to each item that is modified. Alterations and adjustments must be discussed and determined prior to purchase of the item. The fee will be added to the original cost of the design.
I love a particular item in your shop, but see that it's not available in the finish that I want (ie: rose gold or silver), can you make these designs in other metal finishes?
We really pride ourselves in our selection and ability to offer various plated and real precious metal finishes to our customers. Some items are currently only offered in certain metals as that is what we have currently in stock. Depending on the item, we might be able to get the elements plated in silver, gold or rose gold so it doesn't hurt to ask! If available, these processes are more expensive, so we would provide to you a custom quote on these items in the requested finish.
Do you offer custom orders?
Due to overwhelming response this season with more orders and requests then we ever anticipated, we are limiting our custom design services at this time. We currently have a few openings every month for truly custom work. Custom Designs that are completely new designs based on either email or in-person consultations with us and the client that involve sketches, sourcing of new materials, creating new designs completely from scratch, etc start at $500cad and up.
I saw a design that I loved on Pinterest from another designer, can you copy it for me?
No, we will not copy another designer's work. We pride ourselves in creating unique adornments and respect our fellow designers and industry colleagues. You are welcome to send us images for overall inspiration of the type of look you are going for, but know that we will use those images as inspiration only and handcraft something completely unique just for you. Please respect our decision to create, rather then duplicate.
I saw one of your designs online, but can not find it in your store. Can you still create it for me?
Possibly! Sometimes we have had to discontinue items as the materials are no longer available, sometimes an item is from a past collection and we have decided to no longer sell it online as we have so many beautiful new designs constantly being added, so needed to make some room. However if you please send us the image we would be happy to let you know if the design is still possible! If the materials are no longer available as shown, we can discuss alternative material options.
What types of materials do you use?
All of our materials are new materials sourced from around the world. We pride ourselves in using only the highest quality materials. All materials are thoroughly inspected before being used on your design to ensure the highest quality possible. We use silk for all of our flowers and hats, our chains are either sterling silver or filled gold/rose gold chain or plated. Our rhinestones and crystals are either Preciosa (Czech crystal) or Swarovski (Austrian crystal). Our Pearls are all freshwater, Swarovski or Preciosa. Our metal findings are either brass, silver, rhodium, rose gold or gold plated. Earrings are either , Gold/Rose Gold Filled or Sterling Silver, plated over brass, or plated over surgical steel (hypoallergenic). Veils are either silk, italian or english tulle, we do not use bridal illusion tulle. Each item listing details the fine materials used for that piece. We DO NOT substitute qualities from what is indicated on the listing and if for whatever reason we have to, we will contact you before processing the order.
Bridal veils seem so overwhelming! I'm a bit confused about all the different types of tulles out there. Can you please offer some advice?
Isn't it so confusing! We completely understand, so we wrote a helpful blog post about all of the different types of tulles available in the bridal world and the ones that we use! White, Off White, Ivory, Champagne, Blush...what is the right colour for my gown?
Choosing the right colour for your gown can also be extremely overwhelming! Every designer has a different name for their dress colours which can make it very confusing when choosing a veil. Generally, the rule of thumb is as such. If you designer uses the following colour names, chose the following tulle colour for your gown:
Pure White, Bright White, Stark White, Brilliant White - Chose WHITE tulle
Silk White, Pearl White, Off White, Diamond White, Soft White - Choose OFF WHITE tulle
True Ivory, Dark Ivory, Alabaster, Ivory, Cream, Light Gold - Chose IVORY tulle
For Champagne and Blush gowns we ALWAYS recommend ordering a swatch package first. Champagnes and Blushes are very hard to match, so we highly suggest ordering this package to ensure that the colours are compatible to your gown. We actually love ivory veils with blush or champagne dresses and pair them together all the time! Sometimes matching a veil to a dress if it's an unconventional colour can be a bit too much and we find that choosing ivory always softens the gown colour and creates a pleasing soft contrast for the eye.
When in doubt regardless of the colour, we highly suggest ordering a swatch package. As our veils are all hand cut and handmade to order and are very time consuming and can not be resold, we regret that we can not offer returns on veils. Please ensure that you select the correct colour by ordering a swatch package first if in doubt.
How do I care for my items?
We pride ourselves in creating heirloom quality pieces, but they must be carefully cared for and stored to last generations. Each order will come with a care instruction guide on how to care for your veils and adornments. If you have any additional questions upon receipt of your order and care guide, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, we are happy to help and offer additional suggestions.
Can I pick up my item in person?
We do have a private showroom the GTA (Toronto region) that we can schedule pickups at once the order is complete. Please contact us to arrange this option. Any shipping costs already paid will be refunded once the items have been picked up.
Can I meet you for an in-person consultation?
Shipping Options/Duties/Custom Fees/Lost Items/Damaged Items/Incorrect Shipping Address:
USA Shipping: All items shipped to the United States are shipped with full insurance via USPS (United States Postal Service) using a third party shipper in Ontario. This shipping methods takes 4 business days for first class (smaller packages) with full insurance and tracking and 3 days for Priority (for veils and larger/heavier items) with full insurance and tracking. As we use a 3rd party shipper service to ship to the USA, our website is only set up to show Canada Post shipping options. All packages to the USA are $7cad for First Class and $14cad for Priority. Please choose the Tracked Packet option at check out from Canada Post and we will refund you the shipping overage once the package has shipped if it applies.
Packages to the USA should not incur duties or taxes as they are shipping directly from the USA (Niagara Falls NY) IF for whatever reason duties/taxes are owed, these are the responsibility of the receiver.
International Shipping: All items are shipped international via Canada Post and USPS to certain countries. We have a few shipping options:
2) Tracked Packet via CANADA POST & USPS. Canada Post will not ship tracked packet to all countries. If you do not see this option at checkout, please message us and we will let you know if we can ship it via USPS as they offer a larger selection of countries for tracked shipping.
We HIGHLY recommend for international items that the tracked item is selected at checkout. We are not responsible for lost items.
Custom Fees/Duty Charges: Please note that we are NOT responsible for custom duties or taxes incurred.
Lost Items: Please also note that we are NOT responsible should the item become lost in transit. We highly recommend contacting us first to inquire about tracked shipping through the world. If you would like tracked shipping we will send you a invoice for the additional shipping charges. The rates vary from country to country. We would be happy to provide you with the available options and rates.
Damaged Items: Please let us know within 48 hours of receipt if the item that you have received has been damaged in transit. All of our items are thoroughly checked and double checked (sometimes triple checked) to ensure that they are in perfect condition before shipping and are carefully packaged to ensure safe transit. If they were damaged or broken during shipping, please let us know within 48 hours along with photos of the damage so we may file a claim with the shipping companies and work on creating a new item for you! We do not provide refunds on damaged items, we will ship a new one at our expense using the same method of shipping originally selected.
Incorrect Shipping Addresses: Please ensure that the address provided at checkout is the CORRECT shipping address. We are NOT responsible should and items be shipped to an incorrect address. If the item is returned back to us, the buyer is responsible for all return shipping fees.
Unauthorized Returns: will be refused and set back to the buyer at their request. USA orders CAN NOT be sent back to our USA freight forwarding address. These items will not be returned back to us for at least 6-8 weeks (if at all). Until we have the item in hand, we can not provide a refund. To ensure that the item is processed for return as quickly as possible, it must be sent back to our Canadian Address. We will discuss our guidelines for returning items to Canada upon return approval.
- Veils are final sale due to their delicate nature.
- Earrings & Garters are final sale due to hygienic reasons.

- Sashes/belts that are made to size (a size is chosen at checkout)

- Crowns that are made non adjustable (a size that is chosen at checkout)
Incorrect Size Ordered: If an incorrect size was ordered on one of our non-returnable sized options, for an additional fee, the item can be sent back to us and we will adjust the sizing for you (this applies to back necklaces and shoulder necklaces) Items such as as sashes/belts/crowns can not be resized due to the nature of how they are made. On these items we will offer exchange only with a 25% restocking fee applied.
Buy & Try Returns: We do not allow "Buy & Tries. All of our items are handmade to order at the time of purchase and take many hours of skilled labour to create just for you. Please respect that we are artisans and not a retail store with ready made goods. If we suspect that a *buy and try* transaction has been made and a return is being attempted on one of the items, we will not allow or process the return.
If you have changed your mind on your purchase and wish to cancel your order AFTER the item has been handmade for you, then there will be a 25% restocking fee incurred. This will be deducted from your refund.
We respect our customers privacy and will not sell, duplicate or use any of our customers information for anything other then the transactions made through this website or our Etsy shop. All information personal and financial obtained is for purposes of completing transactions made on www.blairnadeau.com only.
No customer images will be used in our product images or social media without the written consent of our customers.
